Global Awareness Program Coordinator, International Progarms

Global Awareness Program Coordinator, International Progarms, University of Kansas
Lawrence, Kansas

The Global Awareness Program (GAP) Coordinator provides a leadership role in developing the GAP certification program within the context of KU’s new Core Curriculum for undergraduate education.
The Coordinator directs a university-wide certification program established in 2003 for undergraduates at the University of Kansas. The coordinator coordinates a faculty advisory committee and is the program advisor for several hundred students, who have registered for GAP. The GAP coordinator determines when a student has completed all the required program components and notifies the Registrar for GAP certification on the official KU transcript. Regular advising includes ongoing communication with program participants via email and in person, office appointments, monitoring student progress toward meeting
program goals, and reviewing student portfolios. The Coordinator is responsible for maintaining and reporting annual data to the Office of the Provost, promoting the program campus wide and recruiting students to the program through various methods. The GAP coordinator also maintains a program website and database, and approves classes and co-curricular activities with an international
dimension for GAP eligibility. It is crucial that the GAP coordinator work effectively with faculty, administrators and students across campus and act as a liaison between International Programs
and the broader university.
