Study Abroad with SIT!

INTERNATIONAL 
STUDIES MAJORS:
Learn about study abroad options 
with the School for International Training

The Office of Overseas Study will host an information session for International Studies majors at 4 p.m. Friday, February 15, in the Leo R. Dowling International Center (Nugent Room). Join IU and School for International Training staff to learn about study abroad programs and financing opportunities.

SIT study abroad programs are small, theme-based programs for summer, semester or academic year with a focus on experiential, interdisciplinary curriculum.
Each program includes several of the following academic components:
  • Interdisciplinary Seminars
  • Excursions and site visits
  • Intensive Language Study
  • Research Methods and Ethics
  • Independent Study Project Case Studies
  • Practicum/Community Project
Programs in dozens of countries on various critical global issues, including:
  • Arts, Media, and Social Change
  • Development, Urban Studies, and Entrepreneurship
  • Global Health
  • Multiculturalism, Migration, and Indigenous Peoples
  • Natural Resource Management, Biodiversity, and Environmental Policy
  • Post-Conflict Transformation
  • Social Movements, Education, and Human Rights
Housing in homestays
  • Most programs include at least one homestay experience.
  • Many programs offer more than one homestay, sometimes in both urban and rural areas.
  • When not in homestays, students stay in appropriate lodgings that may include guest houses, educational institutions, camping, or small hotels.
Costs
  • Check SIT website for program costs
  • Guaranteed scholarship of $1,500 for each Indiana University student

Opportunities with The Washington Center

he Washington Center for internships and academic seminars is hosting several online information sessions throughout the fall semester to provide further information on programs to college students unable to meet with a representative in person.

We hope that you will help us to spread the word about these upcoming opportunities to learn more about all that TWC offers:

Washington, D.C. Internship Program: Thursday, October 4, 2 p.m. Eastern
Intern Abroad Program: London, England: Tuesday, October 9, 3 p.m. Eastern  

Students are invited to RSVP on our website . Additional sessions planned for October (listed at the same link) will cover the application process, TWC financial aid, and the internship selection process.
