South Korean Film Showing

The critically acclaimed South Korean film, POETRY, is coming to Bloomington as part of The Ryder Film Series. The film tells the story of  a sixty-something woman, faced with the discovery of a heinous family crime, who finds strength and purpose when she enrolls in a poetry class. Filmmaker Lee Chang-dong received the Best Screenplay award at the Cannes Film Festival.

BEAUTIFUL AND MOVING...A MASTERPIECE!

Daring in the ways only quiet, unhurried but finally haunting films have the courage to be. A character study of remarkable subtlety joined to a carefully worked-out plot that fearlessly explores big issues like beauty, truth and mortality, it marks the further emergence of Korean writer-director Lee Chang-dong. -LA Times

Poetry will be screened June 3, 4, 10 and 11 at the IU Fine Arts at 7:30 at the IU Fine Arts Theater (FA 015) on 7th Street on the north side of Showalter Fountain.
