New Positions with the U.S. Dept of State - Deadline Soon!

FOREIGN SERVICE CONSULAR ADJUDICATOR

Use your Mandarin or Portuguese language skills to contribute to a more democratic, secure and prosperous world as a Consular Adjudicator.  The Department needs American citizens, with proficiency in Mandarin or Portuguese, to work as Consular Adjudicators at U.S. Embassies and Consulates in China and Brazil.  Duties may include processing visas and passports, interviewing applicants, verifying information, investigating potentially fraudulent claims, coordinating with other U.S. government agencies, and developing working relationships with host-country officials.


These are Limited Non-Career Appointment positions:  they are for an initial period of 13 months, annually renewable for up to five years, and do not automatically lead to further employment in the State Department.



All candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance, the necessary medical and suitability clearances, as well as be eligible for diplomatic privileges in the country of assignment (i.e., may not carry the citizenship of the country to which they are assigned).  Applicants for China must speak/read Mandarin Chinese at the
2/1 level, and applicants for Brazil must speak/read Portuguese at the
3/3 level.
