Please join IU students, faculty, & career professionals with Latin American & Caribbean career interests for an evening of discussion & networking.  Guest speakers will participate in a panel discussion focusing on their career paths, opportunities within their organization, & advice for students who wish to work internationally.  Regional refreshments will be served & the opportunity to network with the panelists will follow. Thu, February 10: Latin American & Caribbean Studies present a film series on Mario Vargas Llosa; 6:00 pm,  Swain East 105
Pantaleón y las Visitadoras is based on Mario Vargas Llosa’s 1973 comic novel. The straightlaced Captain Pantoja is charged with creating a brothel for the Peruvian armed forces in the Amazon. The film depicts his adventures as he runs the brothel as an efficient branch of the army, & becomes involved with one of the “visitadoras,” known as “La Colombiana.” The film was chosen as Peru's official Best Foreign Language Film submission at the 72nd Academy Awards. *In Spanish with English subtitles.

Monthly meeting will discuss the constitution, the Indiana Latino Leadership Conference and upcoming opportunities to get involved on campus, including helping organize the Zany Olympics for Spring Fest 2011.
