CASA Child Advocate Training - Feb. 25-Apr. 8
Court Appointed Special
Advocates, or CASA volunteers, change the lives of abused and neglected
children by representing their best interests in court. CASA volunteers monitor
the child's health and education, help identify the best interests of the child,
submit recommendations to the court, and are sworn officers of the court. CASA
urgently needs community members like you to become child advocates, as
children are on a waitlist. Applications are being accepted for the upcoming
training, which will be from 5:30-8:30 p.m. on Tues. and Thurs. from Feb. 25 to
April 8. Applications are due prior to session start. Child advocates must be
21 and have reliable transportation and daytime flexibility. The average time
commitment is 10-15 hours a month. Please contact Kelli Shannon at kelli.shannon@monroecountycasa.org
or (812) 333-2272 ext. 11. (www.monroecountycasa.org/volunteer.shtml)
