International Volunteer Opportunity


Now Accepting Volunteer Applications for our Unique Diabetes Programs in the Dominican Republic

AYUDA’s innovative peer learning model uses international volunteers as catalysts for motivating young people with diabetes to live happy and healthy lives.  To read more about AYUDA, click here.
We are currently seeking volunteers who are passionate about empowering youth and making a difference in diabetes communities for our two unique 2013 Summer Programs in the Dominican Republic.
Ganemosle Volunteer Program : May 25th - June 2nd
In 2013, AYUDA is proud to introduce our newest Dominican volunteer program, in partnership with AAV : the Ganemosle 2013 Volunteer Program. This 9-day program will run from May 25th to June 2nd. Volunteers will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience working on a national grassroots public awareness campaign and fitness event to be held in the nation’s capital, Santo Domingo. We are seeking volunteers who are passionate about being part of a grassroots diabetes exercise movement abroad, and in doing so changing the way the public views diabetes. Those especially encouraged to apply include:
  • Young leaders with/without Diabetes
  • Those with particular interest in Sports & Nutrition
  • Those with a particular interest in Media & Communications

Campo Dominicano Volunteer Program: June 22nd to July 11th
In this three week long intensive program, accepted volunteers , led by AYUDA staff, will work closely with AAV local staff, medical students and rising youth leaders to plan and implement community outreach projects that will motivate and support young people with diabetes and their families. In addition, the team will work together to run Campo Amigo Dominicano, weekend diabetes education family program.

The opportunities we are recruiting for are distinctive because of our commitment to empowering our volunteers to become agents of social change. We combine an intensive training, which begins the moment a volunteer is accepted into our program, with an impactful in-country experience. Therefore, qualified volunteers must have a multicultural outlook, be passionate and energetic team players, and, most importantly, must be adaptable

-All education levels can apply (from high school students to medical professionals)
-All backgrounds
-No prior diabetes knowledge required
-Intermediate Spanish preferred
-Must fulfill program requirements (attend training, complete fundraising etc)
-Those living with diabetes encouraged to apply
