English as a Second Language (ESL) Tutor Training - Feb. 16, Mar. 23

You can learn how to teach English as a Second Language through the Monroe County Public Library's tutor training workshop. This two-session workshop introduces language acquisition and the variety of ESL learner needs in Session 1, when tutors will learn techniques and activities to support a learner's reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills. Session 2 occurs after tutors and learners have met and covers goal-setting, lesson planning, and English language learning resources suited to each tutor/learner match. Session 1 will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Feb. 16; session 2 will be from 12:30-2:30 p.m. on March 23. Minimum age is 18. Please contact Jackie Lovings at (812) 349-3173 or jlovings@mcpl.info.
