What to expect during
GESI Summer 2013:


June 17 - 24:
Pre-Departure Coursework in Chicago
The first week of GESI is focused on preparing for your time abroad. You'll get to know your fellow GESI students, learn about your host country, receive language instruction, and take 2 Northwestern courses focused on international development and community engagement. 
 
June 25 - August 21:
In-Country Immersion
While living with a homestay family in Bolivia, the Dominican Republic, India, Nicaragua, South Africa, or Uganda, you will work with a team of GESI students and a community-based organization. Get hands-on experience addressing issues such education, hunger, social entrepreneurship, global health, the environment, and women's issues.
 
August 22 - 24:
Final Reflection Summit
Join students from all six countries for reflection, sharing, and comparative learning. Consider ways to turn your summer abroad into further global engagement...whatever that means for you!
