English as a Second Language (ESL) Tutor Training - Oct. 27; Nov. 28

Free training for those interested in learning how to tutor adults in English as a Second Language (ESL) will be offered from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Oct. 27 and from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Nov. 28.  Volunteers must attend both trainings.  Attendees will learn how to tutor adults from around the world in reading, writing, and conversation. After training, volunteers will provide tutoring one-to-one or as group leaders for weekly conversation classes. Once paired, volunteer tutors are asked to remain in the program for at least six months and are encouraged to set aside a minimum of two hours a week for preparation, meeting with your learner, and evaluation. Minimum age is 18. Please contact Jackie Lovings, Monroe County Public Library, at (812) 349-3173 or vital@mcpl.info. (www.mcpl.info)
