You are deeply engaged in campus life, bleed cream and crimson want to document the IU experience online through tweets, pics, and status updates. You feel that Indiana University is a truly special place and wish to share that special experience with everyone. This paid student position reports to the Director of Public Relations and Social Media on the Bloomington campus. Indiana University is recognized as leader in journalism, business, and information sciences. At the crossroads of these fields is social media, and IU is ready to stake our claim as a leader here as well. Our goal is to share IU’s outstanding academic expertise and amazing student life with the world. The primary responsibility of the social media team is to “tell the IU story” using social media. As a team member, you will offer a unique view of campus life from the student perspective. As an active and engaged member of the online community, you will post interesting and timely content. As an official representative of the campus community, you will always act responsibly and display the best qualities of Hoosier character. |
| • You must have your own smartphone and data plan for use when not in the office (connectivity and access to social apps are essential). • You must be extremely enthusiastic about IU’s mission, achievements, history, people, and campus life. In particular, you are deeply fascinated by the discoveries of IU’s faculty and proud of our student/alumni accomplishments. • You are familiar with all of the major social networks and the hottest new apps. • You excel at writing short, effective copy. You create and edit messages to perfection. • You can immediately identify links others will find interesting. Your posts go viral within minutes. • You have some experience bringing order to chaos and moderating a community (whether real or online). You can make good judgments in the face of negative comments and criticism without taking things personally. You can separate your personal feelings from your role as an IU advocate. • You must be an IU student. Members of the incoming class of 2016 are welcome to apply.
