Overview of Work
We are
currently seeking an International Development Coordinator for a commitment of
one year with a focus on writing stories and gathering information from the
field pertaining to microfinance in rural Honduras. This individual will focus
his/her efforts on producing material to be used in conjunction with the
Adelante Foundation's marketing materials, newsletter, social media channels,
website, and blog. In addition, he/she will also carry-out grant research,
writing, and reporting; donor relations including correspondence and field
visits; and coordination of reporting to various national and international
microfinance networks. The applicant will be based out of our head office in La
Ceiba, Honduras, but he/she will be required to travel extensively throughout
Honduras to interact with our borrowers, their businesses and credit officers.
This is a unique opportunity for an individual with an interest in
international development, journalism, communications, and/or fundraising who
is self-motivated and creative enough to work independently from the field in
Honduras.
Requirements
· Commitment
to international development and to the advancement of the rural Honduran poor
· Very
strong writing skills (descriptions for newsletters, web, social media, press
releases, grants)
· Knowledge
of grant research, writing and reporting
· Strong
interpersonal skills
· Proficient
in English and Spanish
· Current
driver’s license
· Ability
to manage time well and successfully meet deadlines
· Familiarity
with Wordpress, Google Analytics and Constant Contact preferred but not
required
· Using
social media as public face and forum for nonprofit organization
· General
interest in photography and use of simple editing software
· Experience
traveling, working, and/or living abroad inLatin America
· An
independent traveler comfortable navigating the country alone, staying
overnight in hotels
· Comfortable
traveling at length on the back of a motorcycle
Commitment & Compensation
We are
looking for someone who can commit to a flexible schedule for one full year
with a monthly stipend of $500.00 per month with an ideal start date of August
1, 2012. All in-country travel expenses will be covered and he/she will be
provided with the technology to work from the field, for example, a laptop
& camera.
