EASC Seeking Film Discussion Leader

The Zhejiang University American Studies Program at IU is seeking a Film Discussion Leader for three events in the summer.

The American Studies Program will take place on the IUB campus, from July 15th – August 2nd, 2011.  The 17 students from Zhejiang University, one of China’s top 10 schools, will be here to study U.S. Governance, Media, Non-profit Organization, and Popular Culture.  All participants will have either intermediate or fluent English skills.
In addition to formal lectures and site-visits, we are looking to develop an informal film series which includes discussion.  Ideally, we will invite the public to participate in the screenings and discussion to offer a more interesting dynamic.

Applicants must have passion for discussing film and a familiarity with Chinese popular culture.

Expectations:
Choose a series of three movies based on a theme relating to Chinese-American relations or perceptions
Prepare talking points
attend screenings
lead discussions

Honorarium of $250 upon completion of the three events

Experience teaching is a plus.  Evening availability is required but dates are flexible.
