Teach For America Lead Now Initiative

The Lead Now Initiative Develop yourself. Transform your impact.
April 12-14, 2011
For the past twenty years, Teach For America has been building a movement to end educational inequity in America. Learning from the experiences of our more than 28,000 corps members and alumni, we have discovered that providing children in low-income communities with an excellent education requires the same ingredients that account for success in any endeavor: visionary leadership that sets ambitious goals and puts forth the energy and discipline to reach them.
The Lead Now Initiative is a multi-day leadership development summit that will bring together freshman and sophomore leaders during live, interactive webinars. We aim to empower undergraduates with the skills and inspiration to become transformational leaders, a challenge Wendy Kopp undertook when she founded Teach For America as a twenty-one-year old college senior.
Participants will learn from a variety of leadership experts including Teach For America’s CEO and Founder Wendy Kopp, as well as representatives from Gallup who will help students deepen their leadership impact through focusing on their individual strengths. Students will also have an opportunity to complete Gallup’s StrengthsQuest program to uncover their own areas of greatest potential.

Teach For America is the national corps of outstanding individuals from all majors, backgrounds, and career
interests who teach for two years in urban and rural low-income communities and help give all students the educational opportunities they deserve. http://www.teachforamerica.org
