The Practice of Tea

The Practice of Tea (Part 2): An informal exploration of tea culture and the craft of tea
The Archives of Traditional Music invites you to “The Practice of Tea,” the second part of our events exploring tea culture. Following Mitsuko Kawabata’s presentation on “The Art of Tea” a few weeks ago that looked at aesthetic presentations of tea, this event will celebrate a small slice of cross-cultural tea making and drinking practices by discussing tea growing and cultivation, types of tea, and by sampling a variety of Japanese and Taiwanese teas. Attendees will get to taste several different types of tea--from sublime green teas, to sweet Maccha, to earthy oolongs, to roasty Houji-cha. The presentation will be informal with lots of tea-tasting and sharing of tea memories.
This presentation will take place this Friday, March 4th from Noon-1:00pm in the Hoagy Carmichael Room, Morrison Hall 006, and is free and open to the public. For more information, contact the Archives of Traditional Music at (812) 855-4679.
