ACC Events
Dates: Thursdays on Feb. 10 & 24, March 10 & 24, April 7
Time: 5:15 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Venue: Conference Room, IU Asian Culture Center
Learn and practice traditional Chinese painting with Lan Yuzhi. Lan has a BFA in Chinese painting and will be teaching the 6 sessions. Gong Bi which is fine detailed painting and Xieyi, a free hand water and ink painting will be introduced in this class. Participants will need to bring their own materials such as a small bottle of Chinese or Japanese ink, brush, and rice paper. (Note: bottle of ink usually costs about $5.00 and brush about $3-4 at local arts store. The teacher can also provide the rice paper for reasonable fee. This class is open to 16 and above. Year of the Rabbit: Lunar New Year Celebration
Date: Feb. 12th
Time: 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Venue: Monroe County Public Library
Stories, performances, crafts, and snacks to celebrate the beginning of the Lunar New Year. Drop-in to celebrate! No registration necessary. Children ages 7 and under should be accompanied by an adult.
Over a Cup of Tea presents "Day of Remembrance: The Japanese-American Internment"
by Dr. Karen Inouye, Lecturer, American Studies Program.

Professor Inuoye teaches in American Studies and has her PhD from Brown University. The presentation will include personal reflections and photos taken of some family members who were interned in the camps.

Go, the oldest game still played in its original form, is a wonderful game to learn and play with a couple of your friends. Mahjong, a game of wit and fortune, is a great afternoon relaxer on a Friday afternoon. Stop by and learn these great games. For more information, email the ACC. Hope to see many participants there!
Asian Language Learning Program
Need tutoring in an Asian language? Need to learn basic survival phrases in an Asian language? The ACC can help! We currently have informal classes for Filipino, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, Thai, and Vietnamese. All tutorials are one hour and are held at the ACC. Class schedules and descriptions are posted on the ACC website. For free registration, please email acc@indiana.edu.

During our meetings, instructor Xing Zhou will share some interesting facts about Chinese calligraphy as well as teach you to write the ancient script. Beginners are welcomed and encouraged to attend. Lessons are free and open to the public. For more information, please contact the ACC.

East Asian Colloquium- 'New Footprints on an Old Trail: Did Duanmu Si Turn Kong Qui into Confucius?By Professor Robert Eno (EALC, IU- Bloomington)

Assistant Resident Director position with The Alliance for Global Education
The Beijing Assistant Resident Director (ARD) is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the Beijing program, which hosts American college students during the fall, spring, and summer terms. Primary responsibilities include assisting students with academic advising and adjusting to life in China, implementing orientation, the academic curriculum, activities, and excursions.
