Indiana University Press – Sales & Marketing Internship (mar-com, accounts, research)

Indiana University Press – Sales & Marketing Internship (mar-com, accounts, research)

Applications currently being accepted.

Deadline: April 4, 2014

Indiana University Press (IUP) is an international scholarly book and journals publisher, located just off the IU campus, at 10th and Morton.  We acquire, contract, and publish more than 160 new scholarly-academic and trade books each year and publish approximately 30 international scholarly journals in the humanities. 10% of our books are from IU faculty—90% are from scholars at other institutions around the world.

The IUP Sales and Marketing office invites qualified and motivated IU students, graduate and undergraduate, to apply for an internship with the Press.  A summer 2011 internship is currently available. Semester- and year-long internships are open to distinguished applicants. Internships are awarded on a competitive basis, only when submissions and staffing needs warrant.  Applicants are advised to contact IUP as soon as possible to express interest in applying for internships in coming years or semesters.

A Sales & Marketing Internship at Indiana University Press is an excellent opportunity for students interested in hands-on development and training.  The program will help students interested in professional sales and marketing opportunities, communications and publicity, research, library science or mainstream publishing.  It will also provide unique access to the inner workings of the publishing industry.

Duties include sales research, developing and building press kits, implementing promotions to the trade and education customers, and additional office duties and research as needed. The intern will participate in the daily activity of the department, working directly with the department manager and supervisors.

Qualifications should include an interest in publishing as well as sales & marketing, strong professional communication skills, use of Microsoft Office, and general comfort in a professional environment, using the web, and working in databases.

This is an unpaid internship for approximately 10-15 hours per week, so we seek a candidate who will be able to apply his or her experience at the Press in a future career endeavor.

Interested students should send a brief résumé and cover letter to Dave Hulsey at hulseyd@indiana.edu or call (812) 855-6553 with questions.

Thank you!
