Flagship Program Coordinator/Advisor, East Asian Languages and Cultures

Job Summary: The Chinese Flagship Center at Indiana University-Bloomington invites applications for the position of Chinese Flagship Program Coordinator & Advisor. This is a full-time, 12-month, Professional-Administrator position reporting to the upper management of the Center. Primary duties include: serve as program coordinator and student advisor for the Chinese Flagship Center; plan, implement, and coordinate recruitment, admissions, and orientation processes for the program; serve as advisor to Chinese Flagship students and provide advice to them and their parents; evaluate applications and make admissions suggestions; interact with university units including the Registrar, Bursar, College of Arts and Sciences, and other schools to assist students from both IU and other institutions; develop, implement, and coordinate events; work with Chinese Flagship Center personnel to assist in grant writing, budget management, and office administration.

REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience.

Must have outstanding organizational and managerial skills; leadership skills for a team environment; ability to recognize and delineate projects of all sizes, independently plan and organize their execution, and follow through to their timely completion; excellent communication and computer skills; comprehensive knowledge of full Microsoft Office suite.

Preferred qualifications: Master’s degree and experience in an academic administration or higher education; knowledge of Indiana University policies, procedures, and systems including HRMS, KFS, and SIS; familiarity with Chinese language and culture; some knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (especially InDesign and Illustrator).
