With the support of our partners at The Israel Association of Community Center's, we are happy to present a unique volunteer opportunity at a Multicultural Eco-Summer Camp in the town of Mughar in Northern Israel. During this camp volunteers from GoEco will be involved in an environmental camp for local Druze, Arab and Christian youth.
Mughar, which overlooks the Sea of Galilee (the Kinneret), is a diverse town with a long and rich history. This camp gives children from each of these 3 religious groups (Druze, Christian and Muslim) a chance to learn together and play together for a unique summer program.
Student volunteers are needed to organize various activities for the youth including: conducting workshops on ecology, sports, and the arts, teaching English, and chaperoning field trips to different locations around Israel. During the project, volunteers will live in local home stays with families. This will give participants a chance to make long-lasting relationships and connections in the region, while also exposing both parties to one-another's culture.
The support of a diverse team of volunteers will be an essential component to this projects' success, and we feel that a wide variety of student support would help add even more to the cross-cultural and leadership goals of the program.
Program Includes:
- Comfortable accomodation with local families
- 3 meals a day
- Professional training and guidance
- An overnight orientation in Jerusalem
- Certificate upon completion
We would greatly appreciate if you could spread the word about this opportunity to your students by sharing the following link via your listserve, website, Facebook, Twitter, or any other means by which you communicate with your students: Multicultural Eco Summer Camp in Israel
