SLST-S319 Special Topics in
Second Language Studies:
Sociolinguistics of World
Englishes
This course examines the
linguistics and politics of English as spoken in regions such as Europe, South
Asia, and Sub-Saharan Africa. Selected studies of sociolinguistic
variation,language change, code-switching, and Universal Grammar will inform
discussion of both standard and nonstandard Englishes in multilingual societies
