Participate in language perception study

Dear students and faculty,

I am seeking several native English-speaking volunteers to participate in a perception study as part of my doctoral research. Volunteers will participate in a total of 2 or 3 experiments.

Each individual experiment lasts approximately 30 to 35 minutes. For those participating in all three experiments, you will meet with the investigator on two separate days. 

I am looking for 3 types of students:

1.     Students and faculty with no knowledge of Russian (those who are neither enrolled in a Russian class, nor who have ever studied Russian) are invited to participate in Experiments 1 and 2. You will meet only once with the investigator and you will undertake both experiments in one day. Both experiments together last approximately 1 hour.

2.     Students and faculty with some knowledge of Russian (those who have studied Russian formally for any length of time, and who would be considered beginner to advanced-level college proficiency) are invited to participate in Experiments 1, 2, and 3. You will meet with the investigator twice. On day 1 you will undertake Experiments 1 and 2. On day 2, you will undertake Experiment 3. The total time needed to complete all three experiments is approximately 1.5 hours.

3.     Students and faculty with exceptional knowledge of Russian (those who have an extremely advanced knowledge of/proficiency in Russian) are invited to participate in Experiments 1, 2, and 3. You will meet with the investigator twice. On day 1 you will undertake Experiments 1 and 2. On day 2, you will undertake Experiment 3. The total time needed to complete all three experiments is approximately 1.5 hours.

Only native American-English speaking volunteers are able to participate. Russian heritage speakers may not participate.

The study is paid ($15 for participation in 2 experiments; $25 for participation in all 3).
