Global Essay Contest on Global Ciizenship and Understanding


ESSAY CONTEST:    MANY LANGUAGES, ONE WORLD

 

To celebrate the 70th anniversary of the United Nations, ELS Educational Services and the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) are hosting a global essay contest for university and college students on global citizenship and understanding, one of the 10 principles of UNAI.  Essays should explore how multilingual ability advances global citizenship and understanding and reflect students’ academic, cultural, and national context.

 

Selected winners will be awarded a full expense paid 5-day trip to New York, June 25-29, 2014, to be part of the UN Youth Forum and Conference at the UN Headquarters, with presentations on June 27th, discussions, future planning, and a tour new York City.

Contest launched:  October14, 2013

Contest deadline: February 21, 2014, electronic submission

Essay # words:        Up to 2,000 words

Essay language:      Must be written in a student’s 2nd or 3rd language in one of the UN’s six official languages - Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, and Spanish
