Seats Available in Production Class (A&H)

TOPIC : The Short Film Narrative - from Script to Screen

(College A & H Breadth of Inquiry Credit)

TR 1-4pm Classroom office Building Room 102

This class is a hands-on production workshop in which each student will write, produce, direct and edit a narrative short film (10 minutes or under).

We will begin by watching shorts from top-tier festivals such as Sundance, Cannes and Berlin to study the unique attributes of the short film platform. Students will then read and analyze short screenplays to understand how they are structured and crafted. Finally, students will develop and write their own short film concepts to shoot in class.

Each student will focus on one project over the course of the semester, to bring him/her closest to the professional process of development, pre-production, production and post.
Projects will be shot on HD cameras and completed on non-linear editing systems. Prior experience with film/video production and post-production desirable but not necessary.

The ultimate goal of the class is for students to complete a quality short film that they can add to their reels and/or submit to festivals.
