Development Intern

Adelante Foundation is currently seeking a Development Intern to assist the International Development Coordinator with fundraising responsibilities including grant writing and campaign development for our microfinance and education programs. The job will require time to be split between field visits with borrowers throughout Honduras to become familiar with the operations and work from the main office in La Ceiba, Honduras to develop grant proposals and carry out other related fundraising duties. Only candidates with previous grant writing experience will be considered.
Required Qualifications
  • Interest in microfinance as a tool for advancing the rural poor
  • Strong writing skills
  • Grant research and writing experience
  • Proficiency in English and Spanish
  • Experience traveling, working and/or living in Latin America
  • Familiarity with Latin American culture and development challenges
  • Must be comfortable traveling long periods on bus and on the back of a motorcycle.
Preferred Qualifications
  • BA Degree in related field of study
  • Experience managing social media
  • Experience in a non-profit environment
Commitment and Compensation
Adelante is seeking a candidate willing to commit approximately three months with flexible start and end date. A monthly stipend of $500 will be provided and all in-country work expenses will be covered. The candidate will be expected to work a full time schedule with flexible hours.
