CLACS will host Alexandre Fortes of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro to discuss his current research. From early on, Professor Fortes has been engaged with the social movements that have characterized Brazil’s political system. Over the past two decades, he has published extensively, organized events and built networks, and received numerous grants to support projects of public history for the general public and pedagogy.  His current research focuses on the impact of World War II on Brazilian working people, particularly as it pertains to workers’ collective identity in light of the international context in which they were shaped.
