Photography critic Mariko Takeuchi speaking in Bloomington March 8 and 9

Mariko Takeuchi, a photography critic, an independent curator and an associate professor at Kyoto University of Art and Design, will be giving two talks in Bloomington on March 8 and March 9, 2012. Takeuchi was guest curator for the Spotlight on Japan at Paris Photo 2008, received a Fulbright grant for her research on photography education in the U.S., and has contributed to numerous catalogs, books and magazines. She, along with IU professor James Nakagawa, curated Pictura's current exhibit, Contemplation. There is a talk at Pictura Gallery at 7pm on March 8 and a public lecture in Fine Arts 102 at 3:15pm on Friday March 9. Posters for both events are attached. Also joining the talk at Pictura will be photographers Tomoe Murakami and Ai Takahashi, two of the photographers whose work is featured.
