INTERESTED IN MEDIA AND EDUCATION? HOW DOES MEDIA SHAPE AND BE SHAPED BY EDUCATION IN A GLOBAL ERA? THIS NEW 8-WEEK (2 CREDIT) COURSE PROVIDES AN OPPORTUNITY TO SHARE VOICES, PERSPECTIVES AND IDEAS

This course, "Media, Culture and Education: A Global Perspective," offers a critical introduction to the various relationships between media and education in a global era and enables students to understand how different individual, group, and national cultures have influenced the making, interpretation, and analysis of media products.

In this course, students will not only be the viewers and analysts of media products, but will also learn to become the designers and producers of media products made for their own use. Moreover, this course will provide opportunities for students to experience different perspectives in and of the media, provided by activities like the documentation of half of our sections from different vantage points with our own designs, performed by the instructor and the students together. We will also compare and analyze data collected from classrooms in three other countries by setting up video cameras to record classes in the U.K., China, and Singapore, producing "live documents."

This course is available to all undergraduate students for two credits. For more information, please contact the instructor at yimwang@indiana.edu<mailto:yimwang@indiana.edu>.
